As 2013 comes to a close, we hope this Christmas season brings you joy and peace, and that the new year brings many blessings to us all.
There are many events nearby which allow you to celebrate all of the wonderful things this season represents and we hope you and your family will find time to attend.
There will be no board meeting this month as we are working on plans for the new year and enjoying the holiday season with our families. Please visit our community website for any updates we may have this month.

Wet Window Ledges As it gets colder, our windows will sweat. Be sure to wipe up the water even though the KB paints an oil base paint and caulks. An effective way to help reduce wet windows is to open each window and place a layer of aluminum foil 3 ” wide and as long as the window, then close the window down leaving 2″ to stick out so as to act as a water drip trough.
Hanging Christmas Lights ‘Tis the season to put lights on the house. There are many great clips to change lights, but many homeowners like to use nails or metal staples into the house frame. NEVER use nails, as they will cause water to enter into wood and set up rot and rust later. A hot glue gun is an effective way to string lights onto brick and stone. When done use the gun to heat the hard glue off.
More Shelves Now that you are in your new home, you will be looking for more shelf space. Look no further than your bedroom closet. The KB homes that have high ceilings make it easy to build a look-a-like shelf above the current shelves in the closet. The shelving boards are sold in the same width, as are the same matching brackets at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Use the same studs to screw in the brackets. This added shelf is perfect for suitcase storage.
Hard To Close Gates If by now your grass is growing high and the gate seems harder to open, take a saw or skill saw and cut off 1 inch at the base and try opening it. It should be much easier.
Dirty Fan Blades Now that the ceiling fans are not running as often, clean the top of the blades. You will be surprised as to the thick layer of hardened dust that will be there even if you dusted all summer. A warm water cloth will do the trick. You may need to use a ladder.
As always I will be glad to help show any of the above tips. Call me at 512-268-9025
Thanks! Larry Simone
