Backyard Chickens Will Not Be On The Ballot

There has been interest from residents to amend the HOA DCCRs to allow for the keeping of backyard chickens. After reviewing the information, the board will not be including the item in the annual meeting. While the City of Kyle code does state that a resident can keep up to 6 hens and no roosters (Sec. 5-44), it also states that fowl cannot be kept within 200 feet of private residences. (Sec. 5-47) We cannot legally allow the keeping of backyard chickens as it does not comply with the current city code. You can view the current city code at: CityofKyle.com and Click on “City Code”
